THE
PRIVATE COLLECTION
I started collecting gramophones in 1979. I met my great uncle Harry
at a auction sale just out side of town on a nice summer day. We started
to talk about antiques and he said he had some thing for me in his garage.
We followed him to he house and into his garage. He pulled out an old
step ladder and opened the hatch to the loft of the garage. He handed
down to me a gramophone, which was a Victor Victrola VI. Soon after
I picked up an Edison 30 cylinder phonograph and a 1936 Philco radio.
My grandfather would show me how to operate all these things that I
would drag home. At this point I was hooked on vintage technology.
